Hyaluronic acid - a supplement to keep wrinkles away

2 min read

The Daily Mail have just published an article where film star Olivia Munn champions Satsumaimo Japanese sweet potatoes for her fantastically wrinkle free complexion and excellent skin health. When questioned why her appearance looked to have changed and the inference she has had cosmetic surgery, Olivia explained that she eats this special sweet potato which keeps her skin very healthy.

The reason behind this is credited to the high levels of Hyaluronic Acid the potatoes contain - Hyaluronic Acid is a molecule found in the body with a gel like structure which can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water.

Hyaluronic Acid contributes to wrinkle free skin and flexible joints

Back in 2014 we published an article about the Japanese Village of Long Life, where we also wrote about these sweet potatoes in the amazing story of a small village in Japan called Yuzuri Hara. Here 10% of the population is 85 or older and have good health. Both men and women in their 80's and 90's have smooth wrinkle free skin, flexible joints, full heads of hair and activity levels that defy their age. This is all attributed to the Hyaluronic Acid content of the potatoes which are abundant in their diets.

Supplements are a convenient way to consume Hyaluronic Acid

Whilst Olivia acknowledges that Hyaluronic Acid supplements are a way of being able to consume this wonderful nutrient, she prefers to get her nutrients by consuming the foods that naturally have them. We always advocate that a well balanced diet is always best for obtaining your vitamins and minerals however this is not always practical. These special sweet potatoes are not readily available other than from specialists so unfortunately we can't pop to our local supermarket easily and stock up, therefore a supplement is a convenient option which makes Hyaluronic Acid accessible to everyone.
